Ongoing Efforts

Individuals, community organizations, and churches through FAITH MISSION support the following services.

Homeless Shelter - Each month a daily average of 40 to 50 people are housed in the dorms for men, women, and families.  Approximately 85% of the shelter residents are considered local.

Food - Approximately 200 families per month receive food assistance through the Mission.  The food is purchased from the area Food Bank or received through local donations.

Clothing - Each month the Mission processes over 10,000 pounds of donated clothing.  Quality clothing is provided at no cost to those in need.  The remaining clothing is (1) sold in our thrift store, (2) shipped to help the needy in foreign mission efforts or (3) sold for rags.

Furniture - Beds, sofas, chairs, tables, and appliances are sold through our used furniture store or made available at no cost to families with emergency needs.

Rent & Utility Assistance - Emergency partial payments on rent / mortgage & utility bills are given in order to prevent famlies from becoming homeless.  Approximately 15 to 30 famlies each month are able to remain in their apartment or home through this program.

Spiritual Counseling - The real focus of Faith Mission is to change lives.  We know that a relationship with God is what will bring about a true and lasting change.  Providing the physical needs allows us the opportunity to share the biblical message of faith and hope.  Through personal Bible study, prayer and daily contact with the people we serve, we are able to see the power of god at work in their lives.  Bible studies are conducted by Mission staff, volunteer clergy, and other interested individuals.

Family Counseling - General counseling to help bring family unites together and alter destructive behavior is done primarily with staff people.  We seek to provide polsitive role models and practical instruction on how to be a presponsible spouse and/or a good parent.

Budget Counseling - Managing a small income can be hard and require a great deal of self-discipline.  Practical suggestions are offered and goals are met for managing finances.

Medicine - In a medical emergency, a family may receive prescription assistance and/or physician referral.
